Do you remember your first flight? Where did you go? Why?

My first flight followed my first "cross"-country trip. I helped my then boyfriend drive from Durham NC to Denver CO in August of 2004 so that he could attend graduate school. The trip out was a lot of fun and definitely the best thing for our relationship at the time. We got the chance to spend 5 days together, in the car, in hotel rooms, snaking our way over the Blue Ridge Mountains, into the Tennessee River Valley, across the Mississippi River and over the Great Plains, ending at the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. The trip was responsible for introducing me to St Louis, and we both spent a morning exploring the city's downtown area, making sure to take an exhilarating trip up into the Gateway Arch. Two days later, we found ourselves in Denver and spent a day and two nights playing around that city, too.
On my last day, I boarded a plane in Denver, ready to embark on my very first flight, the one that would take me back home to Carrboro, NC (by way of Raleigh-Durham). I learned that I enjoy the rush of take-off. The flightpath re-traced much of the route we'd taken across the country, and on the way back, I looked down to see St Louis. Sunlight glinted off the Gateway Arch and the memories of the days that proceeded rushed back to me.
