What are your top 5 CDs/albums of 2006?

Five? eff that, I can't get it down to five. The best I can do is eleven, which is what I have here, and for the record I have not ranked them. (Then I got lazy and decided to not finish writing blurbs.)

Here's a late-ish entry. I have only had Night Ripper for a few weeks, but it's already made a case for long-term inclusion. After seeing Greg Gillis in town last week (best dance party of the year!) I'm waiting with bated breath to hear the next thing this Girl Talk says.

I certainly cannot hold their inclusion on the Grey's Anatomy soundtrack against them (or perhaps in their favor--after all, it's just about the only show I care about these days), but they certainly deserve more. Like perhaps a bigger fanbase? Unless I'm mistaken, The Dears will be my first concert of 2007. I can't wait to see how "Whites Only Party" goes over.

Good tastes - I would endorse most of these picks - the Dears were an especially pleasant surprise, and I was happy to see a Minneapolis trio make the year's best. I feel like Gnarls Barkley really got overplayed in the summer, and it would have been nice to see Annuals listed here. TVotR pure brilliance.

Be He Me, the Annuals record, wasn't included because it hasn't really hooked into me. Yet, that is. I saw them open for Tapes 'n Tapes a while back and really enjoyed their music, which seems to surprise me each time I listen, but it hasn't forced its way into my Top Eleven. That being said, if I expanded to a Top Twenty (or Twenty One?), it'd be there.
